Essential Oil is a concentrated liquid containing aromatic compounds from plants or simply the oil of the plant from which they were extracted. It is called Essential Oil as it contains the “essence of” the plant’s fragrance—the characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it is derived. Aromatherapists also suggest that “essential oil” is a contraction of “quintessential oil,” from the Aristotelian theory of matter. Essential oils have been used medicinally in history of mankind. Medical applications span from skin treatments to remedies for cancer. Essential Oil has found acceptability in Aromatherapy for the purpose of altering one’s mood, cognitive capability to overall well being.
